ING Direct needed to enter into Japan - at the time the second largest economy in the world. The ask was to create a front-end experience that would attract new customers and educate them on the idea and value proposition of direct banking - an entirely new concept in the land of savings (often via the Japan Post Office). As well as the transactional banking UI for those that have started to invest using the system.
